Home beauty and hair care a growing market

The booming mobile beauty services company Ladyfayre recently hosted Decleor's international trainer direct from Paris, France to teach proper application of the cosmetics company's wide range of products.

The company, which now has a client base of around 400, is aiming to specialise further in home beauty and hair care using Decleor products.

Trainer Ms Valerie Anger, from Decleor's Paris headquarters, conducted a number of training sessions on the various products for the local salons where the European treatments are sold.

And Ladyfayre senior managing therapist and trainer, Ms Angela Wright, underwent extensive training in London and Paris to qualify as the "designated trainer'' for all salons in Bermuda.

Ms Wright said an increasing number of residents and tourists staying at local hotels and guest cottages were taking advantage of mobile beauty therapy services.

Incorporated in 1991, Ladyfayre Ltd. commenced operations in 1992, having formed exclusively for women requiring the services of a private beauty therapist in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

There are currently three beauty therapists who are fully qualified aestheticians.

"People are having treatment as they would in a beauty salon, because everything is taken to their homes,'' Ms Wright said. "They can have all the body treatments or facials, that they would be able to normally.

"Our client list is growing. We already have between 360 and 400 clients. We visit their homes. It started with just me, but the business built up and we had to hire two more girls.

"When the company was started we didn't have a product line, but when we looked at Decleor, we loved it so much, we took it on.'' The company became the agents for Decleor of Paris in March 1994, which markets aroma therapy based products. The price of the high quality products, once said to be too expensive for the Bermuda market, has dropped by 30 to 40 percent as a result of Ladyfayre's direct agency.

The Decleor range includes make-up, sun care and a men's line sold by Ladyfayre, Trimingham's, Eden, Bang Bang and Wavelength.
