Horton joins hotel chain

A story in yesterday's newspaper stated that PLP MP Randolph Horton has been appointed director of training for the Southampton and Hamilton Princess Hotels.

Mr. Horton has in fact been appointed as director of training for the Hamilton Princess Hotel only. The position at the Southampton Princess is still to be announced.

Hamilton West MP Randolph Horton this week followed the example of fellow PLP MP Dale Butler by joining a major hospitality chain as a director of training.

A Canadian Pacific spokeswoman yesterday confirmed that Mr. Horton began working as training director for the Hamilton and Southampton Princess hotels on Monday.

Mr. Horton -- a former school principal and assistant director of the department of tourism -- and the hotels' general managers Michael Kaila and Norman Mastalir, respectively, were unavailable for comment.

Last month Mr. Butler became director of training, leadership, and communication for the Little Venice group of restaurants.

His appointment came weeks after fellow MP Reginald Burrows publicly called on businesses to hire PLP backbenchers. Mr. Horton could not be reached for comment.
