Although five bank shares firmed, the index closed down 7.37 to 979.73 on a share volume of 60,050, valued at $538,081.

Eleven issues traded, with all opening and closing different prices. Masters Ltd. finished down a dollar at $3.00, after trading 20,000 shares. Telco closed down $2.125 to $35.25 on a volume of 493, while 7,565 BELCO shares changed hands, leaving a closing price down 25 cents to $19.75.

Bermuda Computer Services closed down $4.00 at $8.00 on trading of 1,500 shares, while BF&M 9% Conv.Cum.Red.Pref. slipped $0.375 on a volume of 4,721 to $8.75.

Bank of Bermuda Ltd. closed 25 cents up at $18.25 on a volume of 957. The warrants were up $0.125 at $2.25 on a volume of 34.

Also up $0.125 was Bank of Butterfield, closing at $10.25 on a volume of 18,370. Bermuda Commercial Bank was up 25 cents to $5.25 after 1,000 shares traded.

Bermuda Home also climbed 25 cents to $9.625 on a volume of 4,410, while Bermuda Container Line closed at $3.75, up fifty cents on a volume of 1,000.
