Air Canada to scale back flights

Air Canada: Scaling down flight schedule

Air Canada is cutting back its daily flight schedule to only three days a week starting in the spring, The Royal Gazette can confirm.“We reduced the schedule in response to the route performance and expected future demand,” said an Air Canada representative in an e-mailed statement.Canada’s largest airline is currently flying from Toronto to Bermuda five days a week — Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday — but starting in May, Air Canada will fly only on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.Starting on June 27, however, the airline will add one additional flight on Tuesday for the summer months and revert to three times a week in September.Flight times will be departing Bermuda at 1:10pm, arriving in Toronto at 3:05pm and departing Toronto at 8:30am, arriving in Bermuda at 12:10pm.The flights are operated with an Airbus 319.The flight cuts have disrupted many Bermuda travellers, including an event organiser who had 62 people booked on a flight to come down to perform in early June and is currently having to scramble at the last minute to find transport.Starting on February 23, Air Canada will also offer its Bermuda to Halifax flight once a week until March 16 as a winter seasonal service.
