Wedco announces historical re-enactment, new beach concession

Wedco this morning announced plans for an historical re-enactment and a new concession at Sea Glass Beach. The new Black Bay Beach & Park concession will offer snorkelling around the scenic chain of beaches, and rent hammocks, inflatables, chairs and umbrellas. It will also sell food and drinks. Black Bay adjoins Sea Glass Beach just before the entrance to Dockyard. The new concession will be operated by businessman Vic Ball.Wedco also announced this morning it will stage a new historical re-enactment in Dockyard for its thousands of visiting cruise passengers. At their annual breakfast for the business community this morning, Wedco officials said the new event would be similar in ways to the St George's ducking stool event and feature a wench and the firing of a cannon. But it will be a unique story, written and directed by Barbara Jones, who was behind the Wrecked on the Rock play.Wedco said they are currently casting for three roles for the re-enactment, which will be based around Dockyard's history with some "dramatic licence".The Dockyard re-enactment will take place Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am by the moongate. It will kick off May 15.
