10th WTA win for Jefferis’ resort

Award winner: The Coco Reef Hotel in Tobago

A Bermuda hotelier has notched up a tenth straight win for the Caribbean’s leading hotel in the prestige World Travel Awards.

John Jefferis celebrated a decade at the top for his Coco Reef Hotel in Tobago, the sister hotel of Coco Reef in Paget.

Mr Jefferis said: “It’s tremendously rewarding to reach this milestone of ten straight wins for Coco Reef, Tobago. Although I continue to invest millions of dollars in the resort every year, our guests clearly indicate that our success is due to the dedication, professionalism and genuine friendliness of the wonderful management and staff at the Coco Reef Resort in Tobago, who consistently exceed our guests expectations with regards to service and providing an unforgettable experience.”

Presenting the award, World Travel Awards president and founder Graham Cooke said: “Our voters know something special when they see it.

“Not only has he worked closely with World Travel Awards over the past decade, he is one of the true pioneers in Caribbean tourism. We wish him every success for the future.”

Coco Reef, Tobago, opened 17 years ago, features 150 rooms and suites has its own private beach and ten acres of gardens.

The $2000 a night Sunset Villa has played host to stars like singers Diana Ross and Rod Stewart and Rambo star Sylvester Stallone.

The Wall Street Journal has dubbed the awards “The Oscars of the travel industry.”

The awards scheme was founded 20 years ago and winners are chosen through online voting generated by a year-long campaign to encourage worldwide participation.

The votes come from qualified executives working in the travel and tourism industry and the consumer travel buyer.
