Colonial holds pensions seminar

A seminar on pensions is being held by Colonial later today

An insurance company will today hold a special seminar on retirement planning.

The event, organised by Colonial Pension Services, will be presented by global investment company MFS Investment Management, based in Boston.

Topics include how long people need their money to last in their retirement, the required retirement savings, whether people should save now and if retirement is possible.

Larue Daniels, customer service manager at Colonial Pensions, said: “It is vital to put some planning into your retirement.”

She added that, although pension contributions are mandatory in Bermuda, it was important to know if enough had been saved for a comfortable retirement.

Ms Daniels said: “It is also really important that people keep abreast of events like Brexit which has recently rattled the markets and caused uncertainty. This will also be discussed at the seminar.

“We advise that people meet regularly with their financial advisers for advice on what is best for their retirement needs.”

The seminar will be held at the Hamilton Princess from 6pm to 8pm.
