Simons elected IoD Bermuda chairwoman

Growth focus: Rochelle Simons. chairwoman of the IoD Bermuda branch

Rochelle Simons has been elected chairwoman of The Institute of Directors Bermuda Branch.

Mrs Simons said she saw growth opportunities both for the organisation and its members.

Having become a member of the Executive Committee when the branch relaunched in 2012, Mrs Simons has since focused on creating and facilitating the delivery of informal and formal professional development programmes for the branch.

She is now looking forward to strengthening branch operations.

Mrs Simons said: “Professional development will continue to be a cornerstone for the branch. The primary platform has been established and stage two will be delivered in September 2017.

“By year end, I anticipate growth across all levels of the chartered director programme. More than 150 individuals, representing diverse professions and industries, are part of the branch community.

“I believe the increase in membership and the success of the professional development programmes have reached a level which supports the pursuit of growth initiatives that add value to the membership and the jurisdiction.

“The next phase of branch development will include creating greater awareness of the expanding available director community to corporate Bermuda; developing closer relationships with regulatory bodies to explore evolving governance practices; sharing ‘best practice’ thought leadership with the members and the community at large; and strengthening branch operations to ensure sustainability.

“I encourage the submission of ideas from branch members, and, I look forward to working with the Executive Committee to advance the organisation.”
