Keynote speaker: Karin Hurt

“Keeping your stars” will be the subject of the Bermuda Human Resource Association’s annual conference.

The October 24 event at the Fairmont Southampton will explore, encourage and advance the strategic value of retaining talent. Among the topics to be discussed are winning well, personality assessment tools, building extraordinary teams, employee retention and elevating performance.

The BHRA, an interest group advocating the advancement of the HR profession and the development of professionals in Bermuda, hosted its annual conference after a seven-year hiatus and attracted more than 100 attendees.

Building on the success of last year’s event, this year the event has grown to a full-day conference featuring three international guest speakers as well as top local presenters.

The keynote address will be led by Karin Hurt who has been featured on Inc’s list of 100 Great Leadership Speakers, American Management Association’s 2015 Leaders to Watch and One of the Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trusted Business Behaviour by Trust Across America, followed by team-building and peak performance expert Lee Rubin and Laura Cole, author of international bestseller Dreaming Big and Being Bold.

The conference will also feature top local speakers Michael Hanson, managing director of Carey Olsen Bermuda, premier sponsor of the conference, who will speak on “Reality of restrictive covenants in a disruptive Bermuda market”, and Tawana Tannock, chairwoman of the Bermuda Human Rights Commission, who will present and moderate a panel of local experts on the topic of #HRtoo.

“With three world-class international speakers, dynamic local speakers, a vendor marketplace and a cocktail reception, the 2018 BHRA Conference is a must-attend event for everyone in the HR community,” Krystle DeSilva, president, said.

“We are capitalising on the momentum of last year’s successful event to create a value-packed day with plenty of networking opportunities for delegates to get the most out of their day.”
