Cox Hallett Wilkinson appoints three directors

Law firm Cox Hallett Wilkinson Ltd has appointed Janice Gutteridge, Kathleen Moniz and Matthew Watson as directors.

They join existing board members Ernest Morrison, Craig Rothwell and Kim White.

Mr Morrison, managing director, said: “We are excited to announce the appointment of new directors, welcoming the addition of Janice, Kathleen and Matt to the management of CHW.

“Each of them fortifies our commitment to provide our clients with the highest-quality legal advice and services in a practical and cost-effective manner. As directors they will grow the reputation of the firm as a market leader, both locally and internationally.”

Ms Gutteridge joined the firm in 2007 and has 12 years experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, the firm said, including extensive experience in asset financing, specifically aviation and ship financings, mergers and acquisitions, the migration of corporate entities into and out of Bermuda and partnership structures, including global restructuring projects involving Bermuda entities.

She has been recognised as a “rising star” by both the IFLR 1000 in corporate and finance and by The Legal 500 in corporate and commercial, and bank, financing and capital markets. She is a member of Wista, Bermuda branch and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Ms Moniz joined the firm in 2018 as a member of the corporate team with more than 13 years experience in corporate and commercial matters. Her practice includes a wide array of corporate and commercial matters, including international asset financing transactions, including debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions and cross-border financings, the firm said.

She has been recognised as a “rising star” by the IFLR 1000 in corporate and finance and is recommended by The Legal 500 in corporate and commercial.

Mr Watson joined CHW in 2017, after practicing in Australia, and has been an integral member of CHW's dispute resolution team, the firm said. He regularly acts on behalf of the firm's largest corporate, trust, estate and high-net-worth clients.

He is often engaged in contentious trust proceedings for trustees and beneficiaries and in complex cross-border commercial litigation often involving company law, contract, investment, shareholder or director disputes, CHW said. He also assists local clients in respect of banking, professional negligence and matrimonial matters.

Mr Watson has been recognised as an “associate to watch” in dispute resolution by Chamber & Partners and as a “rising star” in dispute resolution by The Legal 500.
