The White Party: Minimalistic mayhem

Building on the success of the colour-coded parties of the past year ? the White, Red and Pink Parties ? premiere party organisers Unit? will be hosting their second White Party tomorrow night.

With the Unit?s events steadily growing in popularity, organisers have elected to run this White Party in the 20,000 square foot Poinciana Ballroom and Foyer Lounge of the Southampton Fairmont Hotel to ensure revellers have enough room to truly express themselves.

All white attire is requested and white tops are mandatory but once inside the event, organisers promise party-goers will not be disappointed by the vibe at this anything but plain event.

Unit? founder and president Belcario Thomas said the difference between this and the Pink Party is: ?Further focus on bringing together diverse, multicultural, international, discerning club goers that appreciates nightlife entertainment on a world-class scale.

?While the PINK party had over 2,200 people attending what was a South Beach-style, upscale casual affair on a beach ? the White Party has a decidedly more diamond elegance, classic minimalistic decor and ambience, while providing over 20,000 square feet of lavishly fun clubbing at Bermuda?s premier resort the Southampton Fairmont.?

He is confident the event?s music will bring out the inner party people that lurk beneath so many of our more mild-mannered 9-5 exteriors.

?The intention is that the party selection will be as diverse as our crowd with special guests complimenting an impressive slate of entertainment on tap,? he said.

?From the latest in House, Dance and Trance with guest DJs Frisky and DJ Styles with bongo players and live percussion, to partying with Bermuda?s favourite, DJ Double S, laying down the hottest R&B and Hip Hop with a smattering of live violin with FLIRT?s Taylor Rankin.?

Unit? is hoping to attract over 1,500 club goers for the largest, most lavish clubbing experience in Bermuda this year.

Some party-goers will start with a pre-cruise on the Lady Tamara and at the main eventthere will be private bungalow sanctuaries with bottle service, complimentary hors d?oeuvres and complimentary gift baskets.

?It is a new level of service that Unit? is introducing,? Mr. Thomas said.

Over the last year, past party patrons have pleaded with him to quit his job and take up the entertainment cause full-time in order to fill glaring gaps in the Bermuda scene, he claims.

Invites to the Unit? parties go out over the email.

?We target market to our audience of friends, of friends, of friends,? said Mr. Thomas.

?Mature, young-of-mind professionals, hotties and hipsters, and like minded creative, independent fun loving individuals that crave, demand, and expect what the world has to offer, but in Bermuda.?

The White lounge will be open from 8 -10 p.m. and merrymakers can sip in the Moet Champagne lounge, eat tempting white chocolate fondue and succulent strawberries, while listening to lively Latin house vibes, which are accompanied by Rankin on violin.

The White main event will run from 10 p.m. until late.

Only a few VIP Cabanas are still available and can be reserved by (747-1677.

Tickets $40 are available at Sasch, Stefanel, The Edge, and 27th Century Boutique.

Ten percent of all White Party ticket profits will be donated to the Bermuda Red Cross in aid of Hurricane Katrina victims.
