Lions walk to raise funds for hospital

A story yesterday incorrectly stated that Lions, Lionesses and Leos were holding a six-mile walkathon today. The walkathon will be held next Saturday, October 28.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lionism in Bermuda, Lions Club members from around the Island are joining forces to raise $50,000 to purchase a piece of state-of-the-art equipment for the hospital.

Lions, Lionesses and Leos are holding a six-mile walkathon tomorrow to help raise funds for an endoscopic suite which will improve biopsy and treatment in many areas of medicine including colon cancer.

The walk will begin at the south gate of the Botanical Gardens and walkers will travel down South Road, over Collector's Hill, along Middle Road, Tee Street, Berry Hill Road and Point Finger Road and then back to the south gate via South Road.

Through this event and others, including a raffle and a bus pull during the Front Street Mile in January, the organisation hopes to raise $50,000 which will be matched by Lions Club International.
