Actors play several roles in South African play
internationally acclaimed South African play beginning tonight.
The performance is part of a trip scheduled by the African-American Studies and Theatre Arts departments of the Eastern Illinois University.
The two actors, Arnold Pulliam Jr. and Clint Vrona, will portray more than 40 different characters.
The play, entitled "Woza Albert'', explores the idea of Christ returning to the world with a non-white physical appearance in apartheid South Africa.
Although some might argue that the play has little relevance in a post-apartheid era, a spokesperson for the group said the play was intended to go beyond the evils of apartheid to represent a multi-racial experience that reflected contemporary South Africa.
In addition to performing the play, the theatre group will study historical, social and cultural aspects of Bermuda.
The play is scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the Bermuda College lecture theatre (Room N100). Admission is free.
