Cultural Affairs officer Ruth Thomas said The Bermuda Arts Council would this year pay homage to Jay Bluck for his work in visual art and Gary Burgess for his music.

"Every year, in a different format, two recipients are honoured,'' said Ms Thomas. "Sometimes they are honoured at a tea party or a luncheon. This year a concert will be held at City Hall on November 13.'' She said clarinettist Mark Lomas and opera singers Marcelle Clement and McKeeba Colder would perform at the concert.

Ms. Thomas said the winners annually received a Graham Outerbridge bronze medallion which sits in a cedar box.

"Several years ago, the Arts Council decided that there were so many people who devoted so much time to the arts they thought they should be honoured in a special way.'' Past honourees include photographer Richard Saunders, entertainer Sidney Bean, and Sir Gilbert Cooper.
