Bermudian impersonator Barrington proves to be a hit
Barrington, has made it into the entertainment big league.
In the company of big name stars such as Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze, Sybil is strutting his stuff in the hot new movie "To Wong Foo'' which opened in the US yesterday.
Though he does not have any lines in the movie, which has already been labelled a hit by critics, Sybil can be seen going into a club and doing a dance routine with Snipes and Swayze who play female impersonators.
On Wednesday night Sybil attended the premier showing of the movie at the Zigfeld Theatre in Manhattan. Singer Cindy Lauper also attended as her remake of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun'' is included in the soundtrack. Sybil also appears in the video which has aired on VH1.
Also attending were Patti LaBelle and Nona Hendricks whose song "Turn It Up'' is included in the movie's soundtrack.
Sybil also attended a party after the movie at Fashion Cafe. The gala gathering attracted such big names as Naomi Campbell and Liza Minelli.
The oldest of five children born to Ms Leonette Anderson, Mr. Neil Virgil Sybil has come a long way from his backyard in Somerset.
In addition to being a prominent celebrity impersonator based in New York, Sybil has been seen on numerous local, network, and international television, including programmes such as HBO's New York Undercover, Entertainment Tonight, The Richard Bey Show, The Charles Perez Show, The Rolanda Show, and the Brown Sugar show.
And he will next appear on the Maury Povich show on September 18. The topic will be "Hot, Sexy and Still Living Single''.
Sybil is also scheduled to begin a tour with actress Ms Clarice Taylor who played the mother of Bill Cosby on the Cosby Show.
He has been disguised as such musical divas as Jennifer Holiday, Carmen McCray, Etta James, Vesta and Aretha Franklin, and he believes that he is paving the way for other female impersonators in the Island.
