Military history in spotlight at five events

The Centenary Committee is marking the occasion of the first Bermuda Militia Artillery training camp which began on June 15, 1896 at Fort Victoria, St.

George's.

The theme will be "Dare to Remember'' and it embraces the continuation of the Bermuda Militia Artillery and the Bermuda Rifles (formerly the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps) which combined to form the Bermuda Regiment 31 years ago.

A schedule of events has been set in place beginning with a golf tournament at the St. George's Golf Club. This will be followed three days later on October 8 with a Historical Night Reunion and buffet at the RAA Club in St. George's at 8 p.m.

On Friday, October 11 there will be a reception at the Number One Shed in Hamilton at 7 p.m.

The next day there will be a field day at Garrison Field in St. George's that will begin at noon until 6 p.m.
