St. George's bustling with activities

designated World Heritage Town of St. George's brimming with visitors and shoppers, the Christmas fun continues this week with a host of new events and special in-store promotions. Frank Paget, a visitor from Pennsylvania, was the lucky winner of the first Christmas prize draw announced in King Square last Saturday by Mayor of St. George's, Henry Hayward, winning a $250 travel voucher. Nearly 50 retail stores, businesses and restaurants in the town are participating in the Festival prize draw promotion which offers an entry form for all purchases or lunch over $20. There are four weekly draw for a $250 travel voucher and a grand prize draw (taking place on New Year's Eve) for a $1,000 travel voucher. The winners of the town's annual Window Decorating contest were also announced last week. HA&E Smith's was the winner of the `professional' category, receiving its award from the Corporation of St.

George's while East End Florist won the `non-professional' category, receiving its award from St. George's Rotary. This week's Festival highlights include: Floral Christmas Decorations: Until Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On display at the Tucker House on Water Street and Globe Hotel (York street) Museums.

Christmas Organ Music: Until Thursday, 10 a.m., in historic St. Peter's Church.

Walking tours: Of the old town, 10.30 a.m. today and Saturday, starting from King Square.

Floral Christmas Decorations: Today, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum.

Art Decorations: Today 1 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. by St. George's artist Diana Amos at the Amos Art Studio, Hunter's Wharf Mayor's Greeting: Today and Saturday 11.45 a.m., including announcement of the second winner in the St. George's Christmas Festival prize draw, King Square.

Ducking Re-enactment: Today and Saturday 12 noon.

Floral Arrangement Demonstration: Thursday, 5.30 p.m. East End Florist, Bridge Street.

Make and Take Christmas Ornaments: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Betty's Needlecrafts, York Street.

Child Minding Service: Saturday, 1 to 3 p.m. in St. Peter's Church Hall for children two to eight. Service will also be available on Saturday, December 16 from 1-3 p.m. and Saturday, December 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m.

Donations invited.

Santa Claus Parade: Saturday, 7.30 p.m. King Square.
