Students on song!

Grammar School in their annual Spring concert on Wednesday, April 16, in the Saltus Hall, St. John's Road, beginning at 7.30 p.m.

Performing at the `Concert of Instrumental Music' will be the Centennial Regional High school Band and Jazz Ensemble of Greenfield Park, Quebec. The school near Montreal is the largest English-speaking institution in the Province with 1,800 students.

Its Music department includes three bands -- Concert, Jazz and Dixieland -- two of which are coming to Bermuda as part of Centennial's ongoing cultural exchange efforts. Musicians from the school have also travelled recently around Canada and to Florida and Oklahoma.

In addition to the visiting Canadians, Saltus' own student groups and soloist will perform, including the Saltus Senior Wind Band and the Saxophone Quartet, both under the direction if Lisa Maule, the String Orchestra, under direction of Kate Fraser, and the String ensemble, conducted by Jyrki Pietila.

Tickets for the Concert of Instrumental Music are available now from the Saltus Senior school Office, and at the door, and cost $7 for adults and $4 for students and Senior Citizens.

*** Have you ever given out any Bermudian sunshine today? Since tourism is Bermuda's number one industry the Visitor Industry Partnership has created a community award to make sure your efforts towards the Island's visitors do not go unrewarded and to keep encouraging you to put a smile on a visitor's face.

You can also have a chance to bring two of your closest friends or relatives on holiday to Bermuda, including airfare and hotel.

The VIP is asking that visitors whose holidays have been made a little brighter by a particular person to nominate that person. And four winners will be selected a year and from these there will be an overall winner.

Application forms are available in the This Week Bermuda magazine. Send the forms to Bermuda Sunshine Awards, PO Box PG 274 Paget, PG BX.
