Support a good cause at holiday market

Ever wondered what it would feel like to step into a holiday market filled with beautiful beaded jewellery and exotic hand crafted goods? You can do just that courtesy of the Kathmandu Kids Club.The group will be staging its annual KatKids Christmas Market on Friday from 5.30pm until 11pm at the Mount Saint Agnes school auditorium.Proceeds raised will go towards the ISIS Foundation, which aims to provide basic health care, nutrition and education for children in severely disadvantaged communities in Nepal and Uganda.Nicola Jones, KatKids event manager, said: “The Christmas Market will have plenty of opportunities to find one-of-a-kind gifts while helping a very worthwhile cause.“Come and browse through our stands filled with beautiful beaded jewellery, handcrafted clothing and alluring art work all direct from Nepal and Uganda all while enjoying the festive and exotic atmosphere.”There will be mulled wine available, Christmas Carols and entertainment by the Bermuda Donquili African Dance Troupe and band, The Crazy Wednesdays. Comedian Bruce Barritt will host a silent auction featuring a number of unique items.Ms Jones said: “The unique atmosphere of the KatKids Market and low $10 cover charge, make this night one you absolutely should not miss.“Come enjoy traditional Nepalese food and enjoy happy hour drinks all night.”Sharon Beesley, co-founder of The ISIS Foundation and president of the Kathmandu Kids Club, encouraged people to support the charity’s efforts.She said: “Due to the kindness and generosity of Bermudians, ISIS has been able to make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of people in Nepal and Uganda.“The Kathmandu Kids Club has been fundraising for The ISIS Foundation for over five years now and we are very grateful for the support.”Tickets, $10, can be bought online in advance on www.premiertickets.bm or at the door via cash only.
