The Orchid Charity Club held its annual St Patrick’s Day tea at the Leopard’s Club and it proved to be another superlative social and cultural event.

The Orchids, along with their guest speaker, Superintendent James A Howard, crowded on stage to sing their club song to the applause of their appreciative guests.

Entertainment for the tea was provided by the North Village Community Band under direction of Major Barrett Dill.

The band came into being more than 137 years ago and after a slight decline, is going through a major regeneration.

President of the Orchid Charity Club is Janet Maynard. Chairperson Constance Richardson provided the opening remarks, while Marianne Penner gave the welcoming address.

Lois Weeks introduced the speaker while closing remarks were provided by Mrs Maynard.
