Man given to June to pay fine
A young father who was in Canada at a medical clinic for his son, pleaded for more time to pay his traffic fines.
Rneko Edwards, 24, said his son was born on October 30 last year with a hole in his heart so he has been in Canada at the IWK Medical Centre to be with him.
Edwards said: "Can I please have time to pay? I have a $500,000 fee for my son's medical bills."
Crown counsel Nicole Smith told the court that on January 18 and January 26 this year Edwards was stopped driving an unlicensed car and on the 18 he also failed to show the license in clear manner.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said: "There have been warrants out for your arrest for not coming to court."
Edwards, of Cobbs Hill, Warwick explained after he returned from Canada, he was going to pay the fines on Friday but had been assaulted Thursday morning.
Mr. Tokunbo fined him $750 for both incidents of driving an unlicensed car and $100 dollars for his license plate. Mr. Tokunbo then gave Edwards until June 8 to pay the fines.
