A:<$> The Englishman, last seen in Children of Men, stars in a crime drama, appropriatetitled Shoot ‘Em Up<$>, due out in September, and in the historical drama Thelden Age<$>, opposite Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I. He’s also set to start shooting the sequel Sin City 2 in June and the polial drama The International <$>in September.

Q: Has Martin Sheen given up the movie business? I hope not. I think he’s great. A.S.

A:<$> No, the veteran actor hasn’t given up show business, despite his more recent activity to become a college student in Ireland. He co-stars with Don Cheadle in the upcoming biographical film Talk to Me and provides one of the voices ine animated Flatland: The Movie, due out in June.

Q: I really admire Keith Olbermann’s news show. Why is he also going to do football? — J.R.

A: For one thing, when you’re hot, you’re hot, and everyone offers you something — which has been happening since the ratings rise of Olbermann̵ MSNBC show Countdown. But it’s also a return to his roots: He’s a former anchor of ESPN’s <ports Centre <$>and has covered baseball and other sports for CNN, NBC Sports and Fox.

Q: I read that Craig Ferguson is going to host a game shoIs he leaving The Late Late Show? He’s really charming. — A.G.

A: No, he’ll be doing the game show in addition to his nightly hosting chores. The show in qtion is called The Wizard and will involve elements of improvisational sketch comedy. He’s developing it with CBS and plans to appear on it as the wizard.

Q: What is comedienne Tracey Ullman doing? I haven’t seen her in anything in a while, and I always thought she was very funn— K.T.

A:<$> Ullman is apparently jumping from HBO — where she had a long-running series, Try Takes On . . . <$>— to its rival, Showtime, to do a comedy show in which she takes on various characters, both famous and non, in America. The show is called State of the Union and is set to go into production this fall. In addition, she aars in the comedy I Could Never Be Your Woman, with Michelle Pfeiffer, due for release in June, and is currently providing a voice, alongside Dustin Hoffman and Sigourney Weaver, in the animated Tale of Despereaux<$>.

Q: I saw video of the riots in India over Richard Gere. What did do? — M.K.

A:<$> Gere, in India to help foster Aids awareness, embraced and kissed Indian actress Shi Shetty (pictured)<$><\p>at a public rally. Displays of affection are not tolerated in the Indian culture, so despite numerous apologies, Gere was burned in effigy throughout the country. Formal complaints also were filed.

Q: I think actor Hugh Laurie plays theano so beautifully on House. Did he take lessons for role? — M.B.

A:<$> No; actually, the character was changed to reflect Laurie’s real life. The Cambridge graduate plays piano quite well, l as you see, so that was incorporated into the show. Zipping around on a motorcycle also was written in because the actor is a motorcycle aficionado.

I really love the show The Office. Do the cast members really get along, or are they just acting? — J.R.

A: They really do. In fact, some have become very close friends off the set. For example, Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam the receptionist, has become best friends with Angela Kinsey, who plays the uptight Angela on the show.
