Cycle rider arrested after chase
A high-speed Police chase involving two motorcycles ended with one rider escaping and the other under arrest.
Officers in a parked car outside the Port Royal Fire Station, in Middle Road, Southampton, saw two bikes speeding around 2.35 a.m. yesterday.
Police followed them and saw them riding on the wrong side of the road at times. They refused to stop after Police activated their car siren.
One rider managed to get away, while the other travelled onto Whale Bay Road, into a parking lot with officers behind.
One of the riders, a 21-year-old Southampton man, dropped his motorcycle and tried to escape on foot, but was caught.
He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing an alcohol breath test.
Inquiries into the incident are underway.
