<Bt-3z28>Former radio personality ia honoured in Tennessee
ARTHUR DaCosta Correia, a former radio personality in Bermuda, was honoured this week in the Who’s Who in Nursing Homes in the United States. Mr. Correia is one of four Shelbyville, Tennessee residents to be recognised for his lifetime achievements.
Since the programme was developed in 1983, more than 1,200 individuals have been given this title and Mr. Correia was presented with a certificate during National Nursing Home Week, which ends tomorrow.
The Who’s Who was developed by the Tennessee Health Care Association (THCA) to recognise citizens of their hometown in their golden years of life.
Mr. Correia, a Bermudian, broadcast Christian programmes with the Bermuda Broadcasting Company radio and operated a Christian bookstore before moving to the United States in 1980.
He is considered by fellow residents at Bedford Country Nursing Home as “uplifting” in his daily walk, a source of strength he drew from his challenges when he was young.
As a child, the broadcaster contracted an illness that required treatment from the US Naval base and was 11 before learning to walk again.
