Scott Simmons moves to Govt. TV

Scott Simmons, who was replaced as the Premier's press secretary this week, has been appointed to a temporary post setting up the Government's television station.

Recruitment began for the new station earlier this year, but the Department of Communication and Information was yesterday unable to shed much light on when it would go live or what format it will take.

Mr. Simmons was appointed to the new post of Premier's personal press secretary last year on a reported salary of $102,000 but was replaced by former Royal Gazette senior reporter Glenn Jones this week.

Premier Dr. Ewart Brown said: "Mr. Simmons's experience with local media will be invaluable as he assists in this new Government venture."

In last year's budget the television project was allotted $840,000. This year's budget set aside $690,000 and five full-time staff.

The Department of Communication and Information already employs six press spokespeople.
