A: Fisher, a member of the jury at this year’s Bermuda International Film Festival, has devoted more of her time in recent years to writing, but she does still do an acting turn occasionally. She co-stars with Faye Dunaway in an upcoming comedy callCougar Club, in an adventure comedy called Fanboys and with Alan Cumming and Anne Heche in a dark comedy calSuffering Man’s Charity. She’s also one of the judges on a new reality show on Fox called On thot<$>.
Q: What is actor Michael Douglas doing now? — J.
A:<$> He stars with Evan Rachel Wood in an upcoming drama called King of Calrnia<$>, and is set to star in an adventure drama called Racing the Monsoon.
A: The actress, who also ed in Grindhouse co-director Robert Rodriguez during production, is set to co-star in Black Oasis, the true story of a B-movie actress who was murdered by her son; it’s set to start filming thfall.
Q: Woody Harrelson is one of my favourite actors. What is he working on? — K.B.
A: A lot. He co-stars in an upcoming improvisational comedy called The Grand,e drama The Walker<$>, with Kristin Scott Thomas and Lauren Bacall; in the crime thriller No Countryr Old Men<$>, with Tommy Lee Jones; in the drama rris Wheel<$>, with Charlize Theron; in the crime thriller ns-Siberian<$>, with Ben Kingsley; and in the drama Battle in Seattle, again with Theron. He’s currently shooting theorts comedy Semi-Pro<$>, with Will Ferrell; he plans to lend his voice to the animated>American Dog<$>, along with John Travolta; and he is discussing plans to come back to TV, starring in an American version of a British hit series called ameless.
Q: I read that actor Hugh Grant was arrested. Was it for soliciting prostitution again, like the last time? — J.G.
A:<$> No; unlike Grant’s infamous arrest with prostitute Divine Brown in Hollywood some years ago, this time he was booked in London for allegedly assaulting a photographer — first by throwing a container of baked beans at him, then kicking him. He was released on bail and will undoubtedly be brought back to discuss those charges in the next couple of weeks.
Q: I can’t believe Joan and Melissa Rivers were bounced from the TV Guide Channel. What happened#8212; L.F.
A:<$> There are conflicting reports, but the mother-daughter duo apparently were not renewed by the cable channel to do red-carpet interviews because the ratings didn’t improve enough for executives to tolerate their large entourage and frequent demands. So those execs signed Lisa Rinna to take over on-camera chores. Expect the duo to resurface on another network, however; there are several interested in taking them on.
Q: I read they are going to do a rke of the movie All of Me, which is one of my favourites. Is Steve Martin doing it again? — A.S.
A: No; the 1984 film, which starred Martin and Lily Tomlin, is in development as a remake, but Martin isn’t involved. It’s being executive-produced by and will s Queen Latifah.
Q: I think actor Kevin Bacon is really cute. What is he doing next? — M.F.
A:<$> He stars in the upcoming drama The Air I Breathe the family drama Saving Angelo, the action da Death Sentence<$>, with John Goodman and Kelly Preston, and thrama Rails & Ties<$>, directed by Clint Eastwood’s daughter Alison. He’s also set to shoot the movie Taking Chance for HBO, based on a true story about a military officer who accompanies a soldier killed in Iraqck to his hometown.
Q: Is it true that Lesley Stahl has been badmouthing Katie Couric? She seems so nice. — N.R.
A:<$> Reportedly, there have been a number of people within CBS — Stahl and Bob Schieffer among them — who have been less than thrilled with Couric’s tenure in their news division and have been open about discussing it with each other. There apparently was a network-wide air-clearing session recently, however . . . and hopefully everyone is getting along now.
Q: I read that the rock group Spinal Tap is going to appear at Al Gore’s concert in July. Is thatjoke? — P.T.
A:<$> No, it’s true. The group — the subject of Rob Reiner’s mock documentary This Is Spinal Tap in 1984 — has reunited several times. This time, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean will get back together and rock Wembley Stadium in London as part of the Live Earth concerts on July 7.
