Can you name new patrol boat?

School children have the chance of winning a year’s family membership to the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo by naming a new patrol boat.

The latest addition to the Department of Environmental Protection’s Marine Enforcement fleet is a 36-foot Redbay Stormforce. The boat will greatly enhance the enforcement capabilities of Government by patrolling the offshore waters around Bermuda.

The Ministry of the Environment is appealing to schoolchildren for ideas.

Names already in use are: Protector, Defender, Vigilant, Grey Dog, Cow Polly, Calamus, Balistes, Arca, Hatchling, Chevron, Turbot, Chobie, Cahow (I and II), Feral Cat, Guardian, Heron (I, II, III and IV), Rescue (I and II), Forceful, Powerful, Tempest, Resolute, Serenity, Venturilla and Warbaby Fox.

The winning entry will be chosen by a committee of representatives from various Government departments. Entry is limited to one per person and should include the student’s name, age, school and contact number or e-mail.

Entries can be handed in at the reception of the Department of Environmental Protection at the Botanical Gardens, or via email to: ttrott@gov.bm. The deadline for entries is 12 p.m. on June 25.

The winner will be announced in the next fortnight.
