Police hunt robbers

Police are hunting two men who threatened staff at the front desk of a guest property before escaping with cash.The incident happened at about 9.50pm yesterday in Southampton when the men one brandishing what police described as a blunt instrument went to the front desk demanding cash.A Police spokesman said: “Both men subsequently left the property on foot with a quantity of cash. No one was injured. The suspects are described as two tall back men of medium build.”The spokesman added: “There was a heightened police presence in the area at the time as officers had been made aware of two men riding a motorcycle in the vicinity with a covered license plate. In fact the Bermuda Police Service has increased patrol resources Island-wide including in the City of Hamilton for the Christmas period.“We continue to encourage businesses to take proactive crime prevention measures such as leaving a small float or ideally no float on the property overnight, as well as installing a panic alarm and CCTV system on the premises. The public can also assist in deterring criminal activity by reporting any suspicious individuals or activity to police at the earliest opportunity.”Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Middle Road, Southampton area around 9.45pm yesterday or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
