Bermudian sailors aboard missing vessel

A search for two Bermudians on board a boat missing off Bermuda will resume tomorrow.

The US Coastguard launched a search for

Carefree IV after the vessel failed to arrive in Bermuda as expected today.

The boat set sail from the Dominican Republic on December 1.

Because of the recent bad weather, Bermuda began issuing issuing advisories to ships in the area yesterday, to report any sightings.

A US Coastguard C-130 aircraft began a search of the waters this morning.

Bermuda Maritime Operations said this afternoon: “UK-registered sailing vessel

Carefree IV, with two Bermudian citizens onboard, was last sighted approximately 210 nautical miles South Southwest of Bermuda on December 18, when they alerted a passing merchant vessel to their plight for food and water.

"After replenishment of supplies, the crew indicated they were inbound for Bermuda, arriving possibly [today]. "
