Live munitions to be fired during Regiment recruit camp

The public are being warned about Regiment live firing exercises.

The Bermuda Regiment will be firing live and blank munitions starting tomorrow, as part of its annual recruit camp.The exercises will continue through 28 January in the areas of South Shore Park, Warwick and Morgan's Point Annex, Southampton.“Residents are advised that between Friday 21 January and Friday 28 January, 2011, firing exercises will take place in the South Shore Park area between 7.30am and 6.00pm,” stated a release, issued this afternoon.“Firing exercises will take place at Morgan's Point Annex at various times, beginning tomorrow, Wednesday 19 January; on Friday and Saturday, 21 and 22 January; and again next Friday, 28 January, 2011.“The public is requested to stay clear of these areas and to take note of posted red warning flags, boards and sentries that will be positioned to prevent public access to the danger areas.”Boats will not be permitted to cross the South Park waters during the exercises. The Bermuda Regiment Boat Troop will have boat sentries deployed during live firing periods.The public will continue to have access to Horseshoe Bay Beach.
