A local fly-fisherman is being featured on an international fishing programme to be aired on ESPN2 tomorrow morning.

The programme is' Walker's Cay Chronicles', an award winning fishing show presented by Flip Pallot.

Local fisherman James Pearman worked in conjunction with the Bermuda Department of Tourism to make the programme.

Minister of Tourism Ren?e Webb said this was the kind of international exposure the Island needed.

"With respect to Bermuda's activities and amenities that are available, a programme on ESPN2 bodes well for tourism in Bermuda in as far as the exposure the Island will receive," said Ms Webb.

Mr. Pearman was filmed last July catching black and yellow fin tuna and rainbow runners off the Challenger and Argus Banks.

"I am happy with the final product," said Mr. Pearman.

"The show airs in North America, Europe and in several other places.

"It is something good and positive that the Department of Tourism has done and (former employee) David Dumont did a fabulous job in getting things organised."

Mr. Pearman said that he was looking at a deep water fly fishing tournaments, as several people have shown an interest.

"Fly fishing is usually associated with fresh water fishing for salmon and trout," said Mr. Pearman.

"But it has become popular in salt water ? it's kind of like the ultimate fishing art form and some say it's almost like dancing."

The programme will be aired at 10 a.m.
