Gang targets teenagers

A gang wielding baseball bats targeted two 17-year-old youths on motorcycles riding along Parsons Road, Pembroke.

The pair were approached by three youths also on motorcycles at about 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

One of the youths swung a baseball bat. In a bid to avoid the bat, the teenagers lost control of their cycle.

A chase ensued and the Hamilton Parish boys ran off in different directions.

However, the suspects caught one of the boys and beat him about his body, then fled taking the victims' cycle.

The injured boy needed stitches at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Bicarie memorial at College

The woman who died instantly after an embankment collapsed on her car parked at the Bermuda College will be memorialised in a ceremony today.

A year ago, Andrea Bicarie, who was a teacher at The Educational Centre, was parked at the college's visitors parking lot after escorting students to the College to prepare for their GED with a mock examination when a section of embankment fell on her car.

The tragedy closed down the college for a week while counsellors provided support for students and staff.

Today the school will be presenting Mr. Bicarie with a donation to their daughter's scholarship dun and a collage of pictures in Mrs. Bicarie's honour during a small ceremony.

College officials will also be at the memorial which will be held at The Educational Centre.
