Smash & grab at jewellery storeA diamond necklace has been stolen in a dawn smash and grab raid at a Front Street jewellers.Police said Walker Christopher was targeted at about 4 a.m. yesterday. A glass window was smashed before a white gold and diamond necklace was snatched from inside the store.

A diamond necklace has been stolen in a dawn smash and grab raid at a Front Street jewellers.

Police said Walker Christopher was targeted at about 4 a.m. yesterday. A glass window was smashed before a white gold and diamond necklace was snatched from inside the store.

A Bermuda Police spokesman could not confirm the value of the missing necklace. Staff at the store declined to comment yesterday.

Cyclist injured in collision

A motorcyclist suffered minor injuries after a collision with a car in Paget on Monday. The accident happened at the junction of Harbour Road and Pomander Road at 5.50 p.m.

Police said the motorcycle was travelling east on Harbour Road when it collided with a car attempting to leave a driveway.

The 25-year-old man, from Devonshire, was knocked off his cycle and later treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for cuts to his knee, hip and hand. The driver of the car, a 60-year-old woman from Hamilton parish, was not injured.

Washington Mall reopened yesterday

The Washington Mall shopping arcade reopened for business as normal yesterday after being closed to the public following the release of toxic fumes on Monday.

Shop-fitting contractors using the chemical xylene to dissolve carpet glue created an emergency as the highly potent fumes from the substance permeated through the central interior of the mall and the ventilation system connecting the shops.
