Breaking News: Shooting victim airlifted for treatment abroad
A 19-year-old shot outside Maximart yesterday has been airlifted off the Island for treatment.
The man, who is yet to be named, was shot around 3.45 p.m. at the junction of Middle Road and Woodlawn Road in Sandys.
Police reported today that he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for injuries to his lower torso.
A hospital spokesperson later confirmed the teenager had left KEMH for treatment abroad.
Meanwhile, Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting.
Said a spokesperson: “We are continuing our appeal for witnesses; however it would be remiss of the Service, if we did not take this opportunity to thank the public for their response to this incident thus far, as there has been no shortage of individuals coming forward.
“This is a very encouraging sign as the community is doing their part to assist the Police.”
Persons with information about the shooting are asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 2950011.
