A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a man was shot in broad daylight in Sandys on Friday afternoon.

Marico Bassett, 19, from Loyalty Drive, Sandys, is accused of shooting Randolph Lightbourne, 44, also from Sandys.

Mr. Lightbourne is believed to have been wounded in the chest in the incident which occurred near the bar’s porch around 5.10 p.m.

He was rushed to hospital where he remained today. He was said to be in the operating room at 11 a.m. this morning.

Bassett was not required to enter a plea to the charge as it must be dealt with by the Supreme Court.

He was flanked by several Police officers during his brief court appearance this morning.

He must return to court on August 11 for a preliminary hearing.
