Rival bridal fair organisers who last year clashed over a scheduling conflict say they are now pleased to be once again holding their fairs on the same day.

Last year soon-to-be brides and grooms were torn between the two fairs - the Bridal Fair and Fashion Show in No. 1 Shed in Hamilton, and the Bermuda Weddings Bridal Fair held in Dockyard.

Both were held on the same day at the same time, and Bermuda Weddings Bridal Fair organiser Shelly Hamill accused her rival Anthony Easton of sour grapes when he declined to change the date of his show.

Despite last year's tensions, both bridal fairs are going ahead as planned in 2003 - on the same date, at the same time. Both are scheduled for Sunday, January 25, from noon until 5 p.m.

But the two organisers have changed their tune about the conflict. "We're actually of the opinion that it's a good thing," Ms Hamill said.

One difference, she said, is that this year Mr. Easton had changed the venue of his fair to the Southampton Princess.

"We are delighted that he has moved, as this brings the fairs closer together, making it easier for brides and grooms to attend both," she added. "We would really encourage brides to attend both fairs and get the most they can out of them."

Both fairs will feature a fashion show, at different times during the afternoon. However, said Mr. Easton, while Ms Hamill's fair is offering the possibility of winning a free wedding, his fair is offering individual products from the individual vendors.

"We've got a big show this year," said Mr. Easton.

"We're really excited, we can't wait to see all the people who come out," said Ms Hamill.
