Former Housing Minister David Burch is getting back involved with Bermuda Housing Corporation (BHC) as a board member.

Colonel Burch, pictured right, was appointed a member of the BHC board in a legal notice posted last week.

Col. Burch, formerly Premier Jennifer Smith's chief of staff, lost his Cabinet post after the last election when rebel Progressive Labour Party MPs ousted Ms Smith from power.

He took over the Housing portfolio from former Health Minister Nelson Bascome in October, 2002 and pledged to clean-up the scandal-hit quango, which detectives are still investigating over corruption allegations.

He was considered to have made progress in his new post, drastically cutting back rent arrears and pledging to pursue contractors who had overcharged the corporation.
