Clearwater Middle School got back to business "without missing a beat" yesterday after being closed on Tuesday due to flooding.

Deputy principal Dr. Derek Tully praised the Fire Service, Works and Engineering and parents for helping get the school back to normal after the flood.

Lights were back on in the school in St. David's by 2 p.m. on Tuesday and plumbers worked until 7 p.m. sorting the problem.

"It has been great. Everything is up and running and we haven't missed a beat," said Dr. Tully yesterday.

"We had a 100 percent attendance rate, and I'd like to thank everyone ? Fire, Works and Engineering, and parents ? for working so hard. Downstairs in the basement has not dried out completely, but that will take a couple of days."

The school's 283 students were sent home on Tuesday morning after an old pipe in the boys' toilet on the top floor broke a PVC pipe, which caused water to flood down over two levels.
