Govt. workers reject pay deal

Pay talks for around 1,000 Government industrial workers will go to mediation after they rejected a pay deal of four percent over the next two years yesterday.

Public transport was disrupted yesterday morning as workers attended the Bermuda Industrial Union headquarters to hear how talks were progressing. The last pay deal expired on December 31.

Bermuda Industrial Union president Derrick Burgess said talks with Government resumed later that afternoon but no break-through was made.

It was unclear last night when mediation would begin.
