Guest house to be converted

A Paget guest house has applied to the Planning Department for permission to convert four existing apartments into tourist suites.

Celia Dawkins, proprietor of Dawkins Manor on St. Michael?s Road near Elbow Beach, called the planned expansion ?Dawkins Court? yesterday.

?It is a large house with four apartments,? Ms Dawkins said.

There will be one two-bedroom suite and three one-bedroom suites, all with bathrooms and kitchens.

Dawkins Manor is currently being refurbished, she said, and ?judging from previous renovations? $150,000 would be a ?fair figure? to convert the buildings.

But the good news for the tenants of the four apartments was that Ms Dawkins did not expect Dawkins Court to be finished for the next tourist season of summer, 2005.

?One suite is good to go,? she said. ?But while the others were being worked on, I would not want to put visitors there?.
