Hair dryers, light fixtures recalled
Solis hair dryers and florescent light bathroom fixtures were recalled on Monday by the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The Solis hair dryers do not have an immersion protection devise or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) on the power cord, which poses a serious electrocution risk if in contact with water in both the ?off? and ?on? position.
Model numbers affected by the recall are: 311,340,401,405,407,407T,411, and 415. All of those models are available in blue or black.
Consumers should stop using the hair dryers right away and contact Fromm International -Solis USA at 1-800-323-4252 for a new dryer and GFCI plug.
Lamp holders on the fluorescent lights can overheat, causing the fixture to melt or burn which could be a fire hazard. Included in the recall are Linear light fixtures intended for use in bathrooms.
These fixtures were sold in two, three, and four foot lengths with a ribbed, plastic lens covering the fluorescent tube.
The model numbers affected are: 7174-30, 7173-30, and 7172-30.
Look on the UL label under the plastic lens to find the model numbers.
Consumers should call Progress Lighting at 1-800-447-0573 for instructions on receiving a free replacement fixture.
