An illustrated talk on the birds of Trinidad and Tobago kicks off the 50th anniversary of the Bermuda Audubon Society on Thursday.

The talk will given by Government Conservation Officer Jeremy Madeiros and Audubon vice president Andrew Dobson at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Thursday at 7.30 p.m.

Last year both ornithologists were invited to speak at the conference of the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds held in Tobago.

They also had the opportunity to travel through much of Trinidad and Tobago, with visits to the rain forest, seabird colonies on Little Tobago, Caroni Swamp (home to thousands of scarlet ibis) and the famous Asa Wright Reserve (in search of the unique oil bird, the only nocturnal fruit-eating bird in the world).

They returned with some stunning photos of the fauna and flora of the islands which lie only a few miles off the South American continent. Admission is $10.
