A New Year's Day hunt involving several Police units was launched after a high-speed chase.

Search teams were scrambled to the Horseshoe Bay Beach area after a stolen motorbike refused to stop on South Road.

Traffic Police were at Barnes Corner, Southampton, when they saw the bike make a sudden turn on to South Road at about 11.20 a.m.

Officers followed with lights flashing and sirens blaring ? but the suspect refused to stop.

The bike was eventually dumped near Horseshoe Bay, where the rider and passenger ran off.

A search was conducted and a 38-year-old Pembroke man and 19-year-old Southampton woman were later arrested.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman confirmed that checks revealed the bike involved in the pursuit had been reported stolen four days earlier.
