Man fined $2,000 for obstructing Police
Obstructing Police officers who were breaking up a fight landed a Pembroke man with a $1,000 fine in Magistrates? Court yesterday.
And an additional $1,000 fine was slapped on 27-year-old Ken Looby after he admitted he swore at the officers. According to Crown counsel Anthony Blackman, Looby was involved in a fight outside the Fire Station on King Street on December 11.
The Police officers who attended the fight attempted to break it up but Looby tried to break in to the central ring of fighters.
Looby admitted telling the officers: ?You cops don?t know what the f*** you?re doing.? Police cautioned Looby but he repeated the insult.
Looby admitted to the two charges, but told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that he wasn?t involved in the fight but was trying to break it up.
?You?re not charged with fighting,? Mr. Warner responded. ?You?re charged with making the job an officer more difficult.?
