A brave pizza shop worker chased away masked robbers with pans after being struck with a machete.

The attack has renewed fears about restaurant employees being easy prey to criminals.

One Four Star Pizza worker in Sandys told he felt frightened as thieves kept targeting small restaurants like Star Pizza in Hamilton and Pasta Basta.

?Police do nothing ,? the employee said. ?It?s a small Island, but they can?t even catch the culprits. The staff feel unsafe?.

He said generally Bermudians were ?the best people in the world,? but ?one or two make the whole name bad?.

Police said that at a few minutes after 9 p.m. on Thursday Police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at Four Star Pizza in Sandys.

Two masked men reportedly entered the restaurant brandishing a machete.

?The suspect waved it at the complainant (a female store worker) and hit her with the flat side of the machete which resulted in bruising to the arm,? a Police spokesman said.

?A second culprit was then also seen to be in the building. The brave female worker then threw some pans at the culprits and both males made good their escape travelling west on a Maroon Scooter empty-handed.

?Only the identity of the first culprit was ascertained. He is described as a black man about five feet nine inches tall wearing dark clothing and a bubble jacket with his face covered.
