Massive interest in St. David?s homes

Nearly half of the market price homes at the Bermuda Homes for People development in Southside, St. David?s have been spoken for their spokesperson said yesterday.

And the developers will hold a lunch-time information session for prospective first-time home buyers tomorrow from 12 to 2 p.m.

Twenty-seven first-time home buyers have put down deposits on the market price units.

A further 12 prospective purchasers have selected units, and await financing approval.

?That means that nearly half of the market price homes have been spoken for,? Bermuda Homes for People spokeswoman Aideen Ratteray Pryse said in a release yesterday.

She said a representative from the developers would be in attendance at the meeting, ?as well as staff from The Property Group ? the sole agents for the property.? Ninety-nine of the 198 units are being offered at market prices to first-time home buyers. Prices start at $475,000 for a two-bedroom townhouse.

The remaining 99 units will be sold to prospective buyers for $199,000.

The 16.6-acre site on either side of St. David?s Road will feature two-, three-, and four-bedroom townhouses, she said.

It will include a playground, a village square with shops, childcare facilities as well as access to a marina and dock.

?We are encouraging anyone interested in home ownership at a reasonable price to attend the session in order to find out more about these high-quality homes in a village setting,? she said.

?They offer great value for anyone who is currently renting?.
