Men fined for cannabis possession
Magistrates were kept busy Friday fining people caught with cannabis.
Maurice Burnell Binns was arrested on July 28 last year over a separate incident, on Middle Lane, Warwick, when a routine search uncovered a home-made cigarette containing plant-like material.
Asked what it was, the court heard the 46-year-old said it was ?ganja?. Binns, of Smith?s Avenue, Warwick, was fined $500.
Willard Preece, 46, of Buccaneer Bay, Southampton, was arrested after the Police Support Unit was tipped off and found cannabis in his trousers at Woody?s Drive Inn, Sandy?s.
He was fined $600 by the court after the incident on October 7, 2005.
Cannabis was found on Dennis Kent Simmons after Police were called to a disturbance outside Docksiders, Front Street, on October 16, 2005.
The was cannabis was found on Simmons during a jail area search while he was in custody for another matter. The 28-year-old, of Parsons Road, Pembroke, was fined $900.
Dion Orlando Carlos Smith, 26, was ?nervous? and ?fidgeting? when Police stopped him on his bike on October 7, last year, the court heard.
A search was carried out and a substance the defendant said was ?weed? was found.
Smith, of Alexandra Road, Devonshire, was fined $600. All four defendants admitted a charge of cannabis possession.
