New Police headquarters to cost $57 million

Police will get a new $57 million headquarters at Prospect, the Works & Engineering Minister said.In the House of Assembly yesterday, Ashfield DeVent said the project would begin in the 2008-2009 financial year.He said the expected costs of the new headquarters was $57,700,000.

Other major projects will be a new Magistrates' Court and Hamilton Police Station.

The new station was expected to cost $43,500,000.

Another Police Station will be built at Southside to serve as eastern division headquarters.

He said the removal of asbestos had been completed and construction work would soon start.

The construction work was expected to be completed in the 2005-2006 financial year.

St. George's Seniors Home is under construction with projected costs of $20,716,000.
