Pair accused of assaulting Police
A St. George's pair were charged in Magistrates' Court yesterday with a number of offences ranging from assaulting Police to suspicion of driving while impaired.
Kiwana Ferlin Dallas, a hotel supervisor, and Roger Walter Spencer, an engineer for Works and Engineering, pleaded not guilty to all charges, which allegedly occurred on January 10.
Dallas, 31, of Bourne Drive, was charged with wilfully obstructing the Police, using offensive language and unlawfully assaulting a Police officer.
Spencer, 37, of Pain Lane West, allegedly violently resisted arrest and unlawfully assaulted an officer after being pulled over, on Kindley Field Road, St. George's, for being suspected of driving under the influence. He was also charged with refusing to give a sample of breath.
Both spent the weekend in Police custody.
Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves set the matters down separately for trial.
Dallas, who was bailed for $1,000, will have her day in court on February 12.
Spencer's trial was set for February 10 and he was bailed for $2,500 with a like surety.
Mr. Greaves told Spencer to bring $3,500 with him when he appeared for trial as, if he was found guilty, he would have to pay his fines immediately or face a prison term.
