Pest spray manufacturer Baygon is voluntarily recalling cans of insect spray after it was discovered the cans could leak.

Bermuda is among the 21 countries listed by Baygon as affected by the recall, but supplier Butterfield & Vallis said there have been no reported incidents of leaky cans in Bermuda to date.

?We?ve already gone to retailers and pulled all of the cans of the shelves,? said general manager Ed Sousa.

The recall only affects the 250 ml cans of the Baygon Flying and Crawling Insect Aerosol Spray, he said. ?We will probably have an ad in Tuesday?s also warning customers.

?Those who do have cans can return them to Butterfield & Vallis for a full refund.?

Cans purchased before July 1, 2003 will not be affected by the recall.

?With the hurricane there has been an awful lot of Baygon used,? Mr. Sousa said when asked how many Bermudian customers were likely to be affected.

?It?s hard to tell what people have.

?But I would be surprised if we get more than 60 cans.

?It?s a relatively low risk. There have been no incidents reported in Bermuda.?
